{Community Dialogue } Developing a District Wide Facilities Master Plan is a process designed to determine the educational needs of the District, evaluate the physical needs of the facilities, identify the needs of the community, and balance all components in a package that demonstrates fiscal responsibility. The final document should be a holistic recommendation that considers each facility, as well as how each function and facility are interconnected. THE LATEST NEWS At their August 23, 2010 meeting, the Board of School Directors approved Phase II of the District Wide Facilities Master Plan. . At the May 4, 2009 Board Meeting the board approved Phase I of the Master Plan as recommended by the Citizens Advisory Committee for Facilities recommendation. The Board of School Directors adopted the District Wide Facilities Master Plan at a special meeting Jun 23, 2009 and accepted the High School Educational Specifications report. Additional meetings were held: June 23, Special Board Meeting to approve final facilities master plan and high school educational specifications, 7:30 p.m. board room June 2 - Steering Committee Meeting, 5:30 p.m., Mount Nittany Middle School Library June 2, Community Meeting, 7:00 p.m., Mount Nittany Middle School Cafeteria The complete overall District Wide Facilities Master Plan as presented by the Steering Committee to the Board on April 20, 2009 is now available for review or download. The April 20 meeting is available for viewing online and was broadcast on CNET's Channel 98. PHASE I APPROVED At the May 4 Board Meeting the board approved Phase I of the Master Plan as recommended by the Citizens Advisory Committee for Facilities. District Wide Master Plan Phase I Phase 1 includes: -Addition to Gray's Woods Elementary School -Consolidate the Boalsburg and Panorama Village Elementary schools in a new elementary school at the Panorama Village site -Replace the current Ferguson Township Elementary School through a combination Renovation/New Construction project The committee further recommends that planning begin on all projects simultaneously, with ground breaking targeted for the summer of 2010, and design to include the following objectives: -Maintain the existing Panorama Village Elementary School -Phase the Ferguson Project to maintain the students on site ARCHITECTURAL FIRM At the June 8 Board meeting, the Board approved the selection of SchraderGroup as the architect for Phase I of the District Wide Facilities Master Plan. On May 4, Ed Poprik presented the Citizens Advisory Committee for Facilities recommendations on the selection of an architectural firm. The board approved the recommendations. Those documents are available here: CAC for Facilities recommendations for hiring design firm Request for Proposals document CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FIRM At the June 22, 2009 Board meeting the construction management firm Alexander Construction for Phase I of the DWFMP. At the May 18, 2009 Board Meeting, Ed Poprik presented recommendations from the CAC for Facilities on hiring a Construction Management firm. The recommendations were approved by the board.
