State College Area
School District
provides a diversified elective art program for students of all
interests and abilities. The art program is for students who wish to enjoy the creative growth that comes from working in art, continue to develop their skill in an art-related area, prepare for a career in an art-related field, and learn about art media and personal aesthetics. {subler} In all art courses offered, student achievement is measured through observed growth in skills, work-habits, problem-solving ability, care and safe use of supplies and equipment, cooperation and understanding of others, and the timely submission of all class work, homework, and written assignments. Staff members of the art department recommend that students interested in pursuing art-related careers select both Basic Crafts and Basic Drawing. These foundation courses are prerequisites for advanced or specialized courses. Students interested in fine arts are encouraged to enroll in Basic Drawing at the first opportunity. Students interested in crafts should select Basic Crafts early. Students with an interest in photography or film making may enroll in either or both of these courses. Please read individual course descriptions for a complete listing of prerequisites. Students who encounter a scheduling conflict during or after the initial selection period should contact the appropriate art teacher. Usually accommodations can be arranged to resolve conflicts. Staff members of the art department will be happy to answer any questions about art offerings. Art Department Coordinator: Danielle Crowe 653 Westerly Parkway State College, PA 16801 814.272.4067 |
