Try the new sensation; get a peer mediation!

The peer mediators are a group of student who have been trained to help mediate and resolve conflicts.

Students help each other discover peaceful solutions to interpersonal problems. The Peer Mediation process involves bringing two or more people together who are having a conflict. Peer Mediators lead the disputants through the  brainstorming process as well as well as choosing a workable solution. Peer mediators help others learn how to use communication skills to solve their problems, while keeping the sessions confidential. Mediations are open to all students and adults at State High. One of the disputants or someone aware of the conflict can request a mediation by bringing a completed conflict mediation request form to the counseling office, stopping by the counseling office or main office to request a mediation, or by emailing kas11@scasd.org.
Our Peer Mediators are given training in how to conduct a mediation session, how to listen actively, how to reflect back thoughts and feelings, and how to remain objective. Students learn that conflict is a part of life, which can be positive when people talk out their problems.
