Robert W. Drafall was appointed Director of Choirs at State College Area High School in the fall of 1996 where he oversees a choral program featuring 250 singers in six choirs and ensembles.    His teaching responsibilities also include elective courses in Music Theory and Advanced Placement Music Theory.   Prior to his appointment at State College, Drafall served as co-director of choirs at Williamsport (PA) Area High School and taught in suburban Chicago for ten years.  He has served on the adjunct choral faculty at The Pennsylvania State University and served as musical director for the University Resident Theater Company at Penn State and the Boal Barn Playhouse.  Choirs under Mr. Drafall’s direction have appeared at state and regional conventions of IMEA, PMEA, MENC and ACDA.  He has served on state boards of ACDA since 1983 and has chaired ACDA Fall and Summer Conferences in Illinois and Pennsylvania.  Drafall is currently serving as Presidentof ACDA-PA.  He is an active guest conductor of festival choirs in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic.  Drafall is a past president of PMEA District 4.  In 2000, he was named “High School Teacher of the Year” by State College magazine and was nominated for the prestigious Disney Teaching Award in the Performing Arts.  Mr. Drafall received undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Welcome to the State College Choral Program website. The State College Area High School Music Department offers a comprehensive choral program for grades 9-12. Performing ensembles include four mixed gender and four single gender concert choirs. Along with ample choral opportunities, the department offers courses in music theory and the performing arts.

Ninth Grade Choir - All ninth grade choral students participate.

Tenth Grade Choir - All tenth grade choral students participate.

OMA - Open to all eleventh and twelfth grade tenors and basses.

Cecilian Singers - Open to all eleventh and twelfth grade sopranos and altos.

Master Singers - Open to all tenth, eleventh & twelfth grade choral students by audition.

Chamber Singers - Open to members of Master Singers, Cecilian Singers or OMA by audition.
