The State College Area School District strives to provide instructional programs and services that contribute to each individuals quality of life. Physical Education is an important area to emphasize when trying to achieve this lofty goal.

Physical education involves the learning of skills, acquisition of knowledge, and development of attitudes through human movement. Physical Education utilizes games, sport, aquatics, dance, and health/fitness activities to help the individual achieve the goals of education. Well-defined physical education programs provide a systematic progression of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor experiences as the students pass through various developmental stages.

In ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION, the teacher adapts the rules or the equipment to enable the student to be successful.

The Physical Education Department is committed to providing a quality education program. As a result of participation in the State College Area School District Health and Physical Education program each student will be expected to:
* LEARN the skills necessary to perform a variety of physical
activities,

* PARTICIPATE in both Health and Physical Education classes,

* KNOW how physical activity and emphasis on health impacts
every individual, and

* VALUE regular physical activity and the development of other
healthy habits.
