About Us

Welcome to Park Forest Elementary School

Home of the PFE Penguins

Our school community includes 484 students with approximately 100 staff members, including 51 teachers, 46 support staff and 7 PSU interns, supporting them. We are one of nine elementary schools in the State College Area School District.

Park Forest Elementary is a K-5 school dedicated to the historic purpose of schooling: preparing young people to participate thoughtfully and actively in our democratic society. Our practices are based on the principle that the role of education in a democracy is to sensitize young people to the delicate balance between individual growth and community responsibility.

Recently, we were selected as one of ten schools in the United States as a School of Success by the Education Commission of the States' (ECS) National Center for Learning and Citizenship for the civic engagement of students through service learning.
