Daily Announcements

The Outing Club is planning November adventures including a "Backwoods Buffet" and an overnight backpacking trip. A planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23 in 124N right after school. All Outing Club members and new members are invited.

HOSA will meet Thursday, October 23 at 3:30 in room 230 South. We will play HOSA Jeopardy. There will be snacks and prizes. See you there!

Spanish Club will meet on Thursday, October 23, at 3:30 PM in Room 130 South. Note the room change. We'll be cooking up tortillas españolas. See Señor K. or Señor Gallo for more information.

Schlow Library will be hosting a FREE workshop using graphic novels, called Teen Reading Lounge, on October 25 at Schlow Library. Ms. Manhart and the Schlow librarians will facilitate, so email her to sign up.  Free graphic novels, free food, and fun with friends.

The NORTH Library will be closed for Testing, Wed 10/22 thru Fri 10/24. The South library will be closed Thursday, 10/23. Please plan accordingly to attend your scheduled study halls.

We would like to remind students an anonymous tip line is available if you see or hear something that is harmful to you or your peers. Please know that this can include drugs, alcohol, or other illegal activity. The tip line number is: 235-4999.  We would also like to encourage you to speak to an adult at the school. This could be a principal, counselor, or teacher.

For all students interested in taking a Penn State class this spring: before you can register, you will need to apply for Non-Degree status. To start this process, please stop by the LE North classroom, room 133N, for an application. This process takes several weeks to complete, so stop by today.

Attention student-athletes: if you want to play sports at the collegiate level plan on attending the student-athlete and college recruiting seminar on MondayNovember 10 at 7:30PM in the South Auditorium. The seminar is for students and parents in grades 8-12. Attendees will get answers to questions about recruitment and scholarship opportunities. It's never too early to start planning for your college experience.

    -Roots of Life is a performing group supported by SCASD’s LE program. Led by Directors Kikora Franklin and Debra Daggs, RoL integrates music, dance, and spoken word with socially relevant themes to uplift and educate its audiences.

  • Commodores The "Commodores,” the United States Navy Band's jazz ensemble will present a free concert at the High School North Auditorium on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The Navy Band Commodores feature 19 top jazz and "big band" musicians offering a mixture of styles ranging from the authentic sounds of the swing era to contemporary high-energy music.

  • The Lions' Digest is a product of State High's Journalism program.  The print and online papers are student conceived, written and produced.  Our online news blogs are updated each weekday with news and happenings from around the school.  Our print edition also appears on our website in PDF form. Schedule Change Info

The summer schedule change time period is over.  Schedule changes will be made during the school year for the following reasons only:

1.  system error on schedule

2.  medical reasons

3.  add course in place of study hall

4.  successful completion of summer course

5.  too few classes scheduled (26 contact hours required)

6.  missing a course required for graduation

7.  missing a prerequisite for a course

8.  previously failed a course with a teacher

9.  change due to formal program change

10.  change in level of a subject

Extenuating circumstances may be considered when a request change does not meet the above.  Students must attend classes on their schedules until an official schedule change has been made with his/her counselor.  Students must return all books and materials to the teacher of the course that is dropped.  A Course Change Request form must be completed in the counseling office to begin the process of consideration for a schedule change.
