Daily Announcements

There will be a Model UN meeting September 17 at 7:30am in 234S (Mrs. Kononov's room). We will be giving some more information on Model UN and discussing upcoming conferences including PHUNC (Model UN Conference at PSU).

HOSA will meet this Thursday, September 18 at 3:30 in 230 South. Bring your membership application and dues. Make out checks to SCASD activities fund. 

 Skills USA will be holding their club meeting Thursday September 18 at 3:30 at Chatters Cafe. We will be voting on club officers that day. 

Thursday, Sept 18, we will have college visits from South Hills School of Business & Technology during 4th period and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown during 8th period. All interested students are welcome to the presentations in the North Counseling Office. 

This is your last chance to apply for State High's Leadership council, an organization formed by Student government that represent the student body when it comes to administrative policies, and other school wide events.  Applications are available in the North and South offices.  If you have any questions email Reilly Ebbs.  Deadline is this Friday, September 19.

All students parking in the parking lot must have a valid parking permit displayed by Monday, September 22.  Students are reminded to park ONLY in the red spaces provided.  Any student parking without a permit, or somewhere other than a red space, will be subject for ticketing and/or towing.  Permits are valid for North, South, and the driving tower parking lots.

Volunteers are needed for the Centre County SUPER FAIR representing over 100 agencies in our county on Saturday Oct 18 at the Mount Nittany Middle School.  They need 10-15 volunteers to set up tables and assist from 7:30 - 10:30am.  Please come to the North Counseling Office to sign up for this community service activity by October 1.  

Calling all Freshman! Do you want to be a leader and represent the freshman student body?  Do you want to be involved in helping freshman have a louder voice at State High?  Do you want to help plan activities and improve school spirit? Consider running for a position as Freshman Senate Officer.  Positions include: president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.  Pick up a nominating petition from Mr. Brigman in the south Counseling Office. Nominating petitions are due to Mr. Brigman by the end of the day on Friday, Sept 19.

Schedule Change Info

The summer schedule change time period is over.  Schedule changes will be made during the school year for the following reasons only:

1.  system error on schedule

2.  medical reasons

3.  add course in place of study hall

4.  successful completion of summer course

5.  too few classes scheduled (26 contact hours required)

6.  missing a course required for graduation

7.  missing a prerequisite for a course

8.  previously failed a course with a teacher

9.  change due to formal program change

10.  change in level of a subject

Extenuating circumstances may be considered when a request change does not meet the above.  Students must attend classes on their schedules until an official schedule change has been made with his/her counselor.  Students must return all books and materials to the teacher of the course that is dropped.  A Course Change Request form must be completed in the counseling office to begin the process of consideration for a schedule change.
