Club news:

Attention students: dance team auditions are TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 23! Auditions will take place in the South building gym from 6-8PM.

School news: 

Attention all students ages 15 and older:  Are you looking to lifeguard this summer?  Do you need to become certified?  The High School Natatorium is offering a "last-chance-before-summer" lifeguarding course from April 28 - May 15 from 3:30 - 7:00, Mondays through Thursdays.  Register at the pool before or after school.  Deadline to sign up is Friday, April 25th at 3:30.  Cost is $140.00.  

Dr. Jason Kaye, a professor at Penn State, will be giving a presentation on his research about soil biochemistry. The talk will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 on Tuesday, April 22nd in the North LE room as part of the FRED talk series, a guest speaker series at State High. 

Would you like to travel to Italy and Greece next summer?  Would you like to experience amazing sites and cultural landmarks such as the Colosseum, the Pompeii Roman Ruins and the Acropolis?  If so, you are invited to attend a meeting about the program on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:30PM at the High School South in Room 230.  Your parents or guardians should also attend.  Please contact either Mr. Entz of Ms. Anderson in the South High School to RSVP for the meeting.

Attention 9-11th grade students interested in trying out for Varsity cheerleading: There will be a mandatory informational meeting you must attend with your parents on Thursday, May 1 at 7PM in room 230 South. Tryout dates and requirements will be discussed. If you absolutely cannot attend, you MUST see Mrs. Boyd in room 154 South prior to May 1.

Attention former varsity cheerleaders that plan to tryout for cheer next year: there will be a 10 minute meeting after school on Wednesday, April 23 in room 64 North. We will quickly address some changes to this upcoming season you need to be aware of.

Students can obtain permission forms from their social studies teachers.  The permission forms must be returned to their teacher by April 17.  Space is limited, so get your permission forms in as soon as possible to ensure a seat on the bus!  This is an all day event and students will be responsible for their own lunches.

We've been invited to judge graduate student posters once again this year. If you can stay all day, that will be FABULOUS. If not, please stop by for just a bit.

This event is designed to provide junior and senior high school students with a day of discovery into the wide variety of in-demand careers in the beauty industry. Student permission forms are available in the North Counseling Office. RSVP by April 13th by calling Brandon at 412-527-9216.

Come to one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world taking place in your own high school! The Banff Mountain Film Festival features adrenaline pumping, nature filled films for only $13 with your student ID!  The event will take place in the South Auditorium on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12.  Doors will open at 6 PM and tickets are available at Appalachian Outdoors online and downtown.  Check out the event Facebook for more information and ways to win exclusive prizes.

HOSA meets TODAY, Thursday at 3:30 in room 10N.  We will check our vital signs,  nominate next year's HOSA officers, and share the fun from HOSA states!  

Spanish Club will meet TODAY, Thursday, at 3:30 PM in 110 South to watch "Buscando a Nemo" in Spanish.  See Señor K. or Señor Gallo with questions.

The annual Pétanque tournament to benefit "Doctors Without Borders" on April 24th!  To play in the tournament, each player must raise a $50 donation. All teams must be registered by tomorrow. Sign up with any French teacher.

French Club is hosting their 10th annual Pétanque tournament to benefit "Doctors Without Borders" onApril 24th! Pétanque is played like Bocce Ball. It's fun and easy to play for anyone! To play in the tournament, we ask that each player raise a $50 donation. Participants will receive a T- shirt, pizza, and prizes for the winning teams. Once again, the tournament will be held on Thursday, April 24th. All teams must be registered by Wednesday, April 9th. Sign up with any French teacher. 

Attention all students ages 15 and older:  if you want to lifeguard this summer, you need to become certified.  The natatorium will be offering a Lifeguard Training course from April 28 - May 15.  The course will meet Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30PM  - 7:00 PM.  The cost for State College students is only $140.00 (the cheapest in the area).  Please see Ms. Shakley at the high school pool to sign up.  The last day for registration is Friday, April 25th.  Sign up fast because class size is limited.  Applications for the High School pool, Welch and Park Forest can be submitted prior to final certification.  Employment status will be dependent on passing the course and completing the application process.

Applications for the Health Professions Research Fellows Program are due TODAY, Tuesday.  Applications are available outside room 53N.

The PSU Interfraternity Council Scholarship has been extended until April 28th.  Applications are in the North Counseling Office.

Headlines

Schedule Change Info

 
Now that school started, schedule changes are limited to the following reasons:
  • computer error
  • required for graduation
  • missing prerequisite
  • level change
  • made-up failed course 
  • program change (CTC, LE, Delta)  

Make schedule changes personally through an appointment with the student's assigned counselor.

Our priority is to make sure that students have received the courses that are required for graduation.  

Lines may be long, but we encourage students to come to the counseling office and make appointments during their lunch and study halls, or during a class they wish to drop. We will do our best to fit them in as quickly as possible.
