Advanced Precalculus Prerequisites: Adv. Algebra 2 and Adv. Geometry or the recommendation of an Algebra 2 teacher. Textbook: Precalculus – Enhanced with Graphing Utilities, 5e ; Sullivan, Sullivan. Write your name in ink inside the front cover. Please cover your book. Calculator: You will be issued a TI graphing calculator. Please take good care of it, you are responsible for its safe return in the Spring. We are also asking that you be responsible for keeping working batteries in your calculator. Classroom Expectations: Please be: 1. Respectful - to your peers and tome. 2. Prompt - We need everyone in class, on time, in order to make the best use of our valuable time together. 3. Responsible - Please remember to bring your text (when requested), homework, calculator, homework, etc. Grading: Your grade will depend on the following components: Quizzes and Tests - always announced Homework - Almost everyday, checked at the beginning of the period on the date due. Half credit for late work (one day). Some grace is given under extenuating circumstances –talk to me! Boardwork Problems -Each student will be expected to do several each marking period. Extra Credit -Occasional optional problems and bonus test questions. Final Exam - This will count as 10% of your final cumulative grade. This exam will be given in two parts, a mid-term and a final. Make-ups - If you miss a test or quiz because of an excused absence, it is your responsibility to take the make-up in a timely fashion. A POINT IS A POINT – your grade will be determined using a point system. One point on a test is equal in value to a homework point or an extra credit point. Help: I will be available for help 2nd period and some 8th periods.You may drop in on me during those times. You may also wish to make an appointment for before or after school or during my 6th period lunch. I hope this will be a fun and successful year for all. I am looking forward to working with you. |
