Math

Math today values a strong individual understanding of place value,estimation, and number sense. Through this approach, students become confident, efficient, and accurate problem solvers. By communicating their thinking and listening to others, students become more flexible in applying strategies that are most meaningful to them. Calculators and algorithms still play a role in our balanced math instruction.  This way students, teachers, and parents begin to recognize situations in which various strategies can be more efficient.
