The current version of the GED® test is expiring at the end of 2013 and your scores will expire too if you don't finish and pass the test by then. Orientation & testing take place at the Fairmount Avenue School Room 107, downtown near Memorial Field. 411 S. Fraser Street State College, PA 16801 231-1062 You should plan to be at the testing center three hours each night of testing. The fee for the test is $100.00. The cost for retakes is $25.00 per section. No refunds will be given should you miss your scheduled test session or if you cancel or reschedule less than five business days prior to the test. You must contact 231-1062 to cancel or reschedule. Register for orientation and examination by visiting our Welcome page (at left of your screen). Click the Register Now button. Select Semester GED Test. Click Begin Registration under the appropriate test. New users will be prompted to create an account. Once you have created your account, click the box next to your name to register. Click Register then Complete my registration. Payment in full is due at the time of registration with a Visa or MasterCard. If you have received a scholarship from another organization, please create your online account (but do not register), then call our office at 231-1062 for assistance.
Arrive at the GED Test Center at 4:15 pm on the dates you are registered to test. The Test Center is located in Room 107 of the Fairmount Avenue School. Room 107 is accessible through the West Nittany Avenue entrance of the building, located across from Memorial Field (the high school football field). Street parking is available. Arrival time is 4:15 to avoid parking tickets. ID - Residency: Candidates must present a photo ID and proof of PA state residency. Driver's licenses are recommended. Candidates without proper identification will not be permitted to test and will not be issued a refund. Minimum age for testing is 18. Candidates 16-17 years of age may take the test if they qualify for one or more of the Pennsylvania Department of Education criteria for exceptions (see below). Special Accommodations: Candidates with a documented learning disability may complete Form L-15 to request special testing accommodations. Completed forms are sent to the State GED Administrator in Harrisburg for approval. This process may take 6-8 weeks. Inclement weather: The mandatory orientation session will be held the following day, Tuesday, if school is cancelled or dismissed early on Monday. This information can be found at www.scasd.org. If school is cancelled or dismissed early, the test sessions will be held on the same day of the following week.
Minimum Age: 18. Candidates under age 18, qualifying for one or more of the exceptions below, will be issued a letter attesting to the successful completion of the examination and stating that the diploma will be issued when he or she reaches age 18. Applicants 16 – 17 years of age may take the test at the written request of: a. an employer for the applicant who must establish high school equivalency for job opportunities. b. a college or university official who will consider acceptance of the applicant on the basis of GED test scores. c. a recruiting official for persons who wish to enter a branch of the Armed Forces for which high school equivalency is a prerequisite. d. the director of a state institution for residents, patience, or inmates, no earlier than 90 days before anticipated release or discharge from the institution. How can I prepare for the GED? The Central Intermediate Unit #10 Development Center for Adults offers personalized instruction. Official GED practice tests are supplied and students may qualify for financial assistance with the GED test fee. Individuals who have passed the GED Tests may fill out a GED transcript request form (on screen or on paper), then mail in the form and $3.00 fee per transcript in the form of a money order. The $3.00 fee is nonrefundable.
Requests for GED transcripts MUST be accompanied by a money order for $3.00 per transcript made out to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Transcripts can be picked up at the GED office at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, 333 Market Street, 12th Floor, Harrisburg. With the $3.00 money order and a photo ID, a transcript can be issued while you wait. Duplicate diplomas are not issued. When sending a request, please include:
