There are numerous progressive programs that have been implemented at Park Forest Elementary. Through staff's additional effort and investment into these programs, several grants and certifications have been awarded to the school that provide for the continual growth of environmental education.
A schoolyard wetland area will soon be created that will provide a visual environment for ecology lessons and hands-on learning.
Statistics are gathered by classes during the Four-Corner Observations. Each class takes turns recording temperature, weather conditions, plant and animal life, and objects of interest at one of the designated locations on the school property. The children's notes and sketches are then filed away and complied with years of data for reflection of changes and patterns.
Annual EarthForce projects are created by fifth grade classes, inspiring a youth-driven movement inside the school.
