Meet Mrs. Kauffman
One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. -Henry Miller
Hello and welcome to room 119! I am excited to be part of the Blue Team at MNMS! 2015-2016 will mark my 23rd year teaching. My past experiences include teaching 4th grade in York, Pennsylvania, teaching 3rd and 4th grade at Houserville Elementary, serving as a K-5 Elementary Curriculum Support Teacher in math and science, and teaching 6th grade here at MNMS for 13 years. As a local girl, I am also a graduate of State College Area High School and Penn State University!
My family includes my husband Dave who is a hydro-geologist, my oldest son, Kohlton, who is a recent University of Oregon architecture graduate and currently employed in San Francisco; my daughter, Emily, who is a freshman at Penn State; my step-daughter, Maya, who is in 9th grade at State High, and my step-son, Colton, who is in 7th grade at Center Learning Community (CLC). Yes, we have 2 boys with the same name - slightly confusing! We also have an adorable 7-year old golden retriever named Lucy!
As you can see, my family loves to travel. We have camped throughout the United States, seeing many historical landmarks and hiking in many state and national parks along the way. My favorite states have been Montana, Colorado, and Oregon. I have explored Italy, France, and Spain as a People-to-People leader, and I have explored Australia and France with my mother and daughter, Emily. Other than traveling, my favorite hobbies are reading, hiking, skiing, and basking in the warmth of the summer sun!
And, I absolutely LOVE teaching!
