Meet Mrs. Kauffman
One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. -Henry Miller
Hello and welcome to room 119! I am excited to be part of the Blue Team at MNMS this year! 2013-2014 will mark my 21st year teaching. My past experiences include teaching 4th grade in York, Pennsylvania, teaching 3rd and 4th grade at Houserville Elementary, and serving as a K-5 Elementary Curriculum Support Teacher in Math and Science. I am also a State High and Penn State graduate!
My family includes my husband Dave who is a hydro-geologist, my oldest son, Kohlton, who is a recent University of Oregon architecture graduate and currently employed in Sacramento; my daughter, Emily, who is a senior at State High; my step-daughter, Maya, who is in 8th grade at Park Forest Middle School, and my step-son, Colton, who is in 6th grade at Center Learning Community (CLC). Yes, we have 2 boys with the same name - slightly confusing!
As you can see, my family loves to travel. We have camped throughout the United States, seeing many historical landmarks and hiking in many state and national parks along the way. My favorite states have been Montana, Colorado, and Oregon. I have explored Italy, France, and Spain as a People-to-People leader, and last summer I traveled to Australia with my mother and oldest daughter. Other than traveling, my favorite hobbies are reading, skiing, and basking in the warmth of the summer sun!
And, I absolutely LOVE teaching!
