PARK FOREST TSA 2008 STATE ATTENDEES:
LEARNING TO LIVE IN A TECHNICAL WORLD!
TSA and STEM Integration
In recent years, not onlyeducators, but also political, civic and industry leaders have pushedfor a greater emphasis on science, technology, engineering andmathematics (STEM) education in our schools. TSA promotes a vision ofstudents literate in these fields, and believes that participation in TSA competitions helps make that vision a reality.
Also embedded in most of TSA’s competitive events are art andethics. It is difficult to design without considering aesthetics, andit is irresponsible to create without contemplating ethicalconsequences. When students participate in TSA competitions they findthey must not only embrace the value of design when they compete, theyalso must envision and assess the effects of what they develop.
TSA competitions provide a hands-on venue for learning aboutscience, technology, engineering and mathematics. By participating inTSA’s competitive events, students gain a broader understanding ofthese specific content areas, and at the same time experience thesatisfaction that comes from applying them to real-life problem solvingsituations.
TSA competitions align with national standards for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As you make use ofthem, keep in mind that their power and beauty lie in their synergisticnature.
