Rusty McCrea
Boys' Head Coach

Rusty takes over in 2011 as the Boys' Head Coach. Rusty was a 9 time small schools state champion in the State of
Idaho. He ran track and field and Cross Country at Boise State University as well as Northwest University
In Seattle Washington. He has 11 years of high school coaching experience. In those 11 years being a part
of two state championship cross country teams as an assistant, and a third place team as a head coach.
He is excited to bring his passion and expertise to State High.

Jennifer Evans
Girls' Head Coach
Sprints - relays

Jennifer started with State College Track in 2001 as an assistant and was promoted to Girls' Head
Coach in 2004.   She brings a wealth of experience and track & field knowledge to the team.  Along
with running the girls' program she coaches the sprints and relay teams.  Leading the girls' team to
4 straight District 6 titles.  Jennifer graduated from Penn State earning a degree in Secondary
Education with certifications in English and Communications and a minor in Exercise and Sport
Science. Continuing her education she earned a Masters in Educational Leadership.  Jennifer began
her coaching career in Seattle, WA where she coached track and basketball.  She has various
athletic credentials and has worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.  In Jennifer's tenure
she has helped both girls' and boys' athletes rewrite the State High record books.  Her skill and
leadership is invaluable.  Jennifer is a 9th grade English teacher at the high school.

Dustin Brackbill
Assistant Jumps Coach
Dustin has been involved with
coaching in the State College District for 10 years. Dustin graduated from Conestoga Valley High
School in 1992 where he participated in cross country and track. He then attended Westminister
College also participating in track as a hurdler and jumper. Dustin has his degree in elementary
education, with a master's degree in library science. He is currently the librarian at Boalsburg
and Pamorama elementary schools.

Steve Shisler
Assistant Boys' Distance Coach
Steve joins the staff this year to take over the boys' distance program. He attended Penn State
University and graduated with a management degree in 1986. Steve has a wide range of distance
experience having run in the NCAA Cross-Country Championships in 1984 and specialized in the 800
and 1500 meter runs in track. Steve brings great leadership to the program having been elected
team captain while in college for cross country and track. As a runner, Steve was a member of 2
Penn Relays Championship 4x800 meter relays teams. The 1985 team still holds the Penn Relays
record of 7:17.17. Another outstanding achievement Steve holds is a being former American Record
holder in the 4x1500 meter relay. Steve lives in State College where he lives with his wife and
3 children.

Matt Seeland
Assistant Throws Coach

Matt joined the staff in 2010 as the throws coach.  He started his career in high school as a thrower
and has been expanding his skill ever since.  At Wheaton College in Illinois Matt played football and
wrestled and then went on to earn his masters degree in mathematics from the Univ. of Illinois at
Chicago.  Matt brings over 30 years of experience as a weightlifter and is a former American record
holder for the squat in powerlifting.  He taught in Papua New Guinea for 16 years before moving to
State College.  Currently, Matt teaches math at the Delta Program, coaches with Mount Nittany
Middle School football, and is also a strength and conditioning coach at the high school fitness
center.  Matt lives in State College with his wife and 4 children.

Joe Sarra

Joe officially joins the staff in 2011 after volunteering in 2010. He coaches the throwing events
specializing in the javelin. Joe is a former outstanding high school javelin athlete and is
currently a Penn State student.
