Safe Arrival/Attendance Phone Number: (814) 272-4228
Absent- If your child will be absent, please call the Attendance office to report their absence at (814) 272-4228. Please send a signed excuse with your child upon their return. State law requires an excuse for all absences to be returned to the school within 72 hours of the date of absence.
* 3 unexcused absences may result in a 1st offense being filed
* 10 or more absences (not counting educational trips or doctor excused absences) will require doctor’s excuses for any additional absences
Tardy- Students that arrive after 8:10AM need to come to the Attendance office with an excuse where they will be given a pass to enter class. Parents do not need to sign their child in if they have an excuse. Notes stating the student overslept or missed the bus are not considered legitimate excuses for tardiness.
* 3 unexcused tardies in one semester = 1 hour detention
Early dismissal- Students must bring a signed note to the office prior to homeroom the day they are to be dismissed early. The student will be given a pass to come to the office at the time they are to be dismissed. Parents will need to come into the office to sign out their child.
Please note that the district is now sending out automatic emails alerting parents to any change in a student’s daily attendance. You will receive an email if your child is: absent, tardy or is being dismissed early. If you have already provided an excuse for any of these reasons, you do not need to send in any additional excuses.
Educational Trips- (a total of 10 days per academic year) Trips of a half a day or more require an educational trip form and sufficient notification:
* .5 - 3 days = 1 full day’s notice
* 3 or more days = 2 weeks notice
An Educational Trip form is available online or one may be obtained from the Attendance office.
Students need to turn in a completed educational trip form, at which time the Attendance secretary will provide the student with the necessary form to be signed by the teacher. This form needs to be returned to the Attendance office to be reviewed by the Assistance Principal for his approval. Educational trips must be approved prior to the trip or the absences will be considered unexcused.
