Your quarterly grade will be based on points accumulated in the following three categories: 

         1.  Effort (10%):  Homework, Boardwork

         2.  Projects (20%):  Individual and Group Mini-Projects, Major Project Work 

         3.  Formal Evaluation (70%):  Quizzes, Unit Tests

HOMEWORK: Homework will be checked 1 to 5 times each week (closer to 5 is a safe bet).  Each assignment is worth a maximum of 2 points.  Late homework is worth a maximum of 1 point if turned in the next day.

BOARDWORK:  Each student will be required to participate in class in the form of at least 3 board problems each 9 weeks.  Two points will be given for each of these three board problems and one extra point for each additional problem to a maximum of five extra points.

NOTEBOOK:  A well organized notebook of reading notes, new vocabulary, and crucial ideas, as well as homework assignments and handouts will be vital to success in this course.  Notebooks will not be graded, but I guarantee will affect your grade.

GROUP & INDIVIDUAL MINI-PROJECTS:  Group and individual projects will be worth 20 to 50points.  There will be several of these.

MAJOR PROJECT:  A significant statistical research project will be required.

           Components of this project will be completed throughout the second semester.

UNIT TESTS:  Unit tests will be worth 30 to 50points.
