Meet Mrs. Mauk

teacher photo

That's a stegosaurus on my head! This photo was taken by one of my first graders

during our Prehistoric Life unit.

Education & Experience:

I received my BS of Education in 1997 from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania with certification in both Elementary and Special Education and a minor in Spanish. I began my teaching career in the Altoona Area School District teaching Learning Support for grades 5 and 6. I also taught K-4 Learning Support in the Bellwood-Antis School District. I began teaching primary grades in State College in 1999 at Lemont Elementary and moved to Park Forest Elementary in 2002.

Family:

In addition to being a teacher, I am also a mom! I have a daughter and a son. They keep Mr. Mauk and I very busy! We also have lots of pets and sometimes call our house, "The Mauk Zoo". We like to go camping in the summer and take lots of weekend trips to New Jersey, where I grew up, to visit extended family members.

Hobbies and Interests:

I love to work in my garden and grow smaller things on my kitchen windowsill. I am currently learning to decorate cakes and even made one wedding cake! I like to scrapbook. I also spend lots of time walking my big dogs and playing with my kids.
