This year, we will be completing the following units: PRIME TIME Students will address the basics of number theory including: factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers, even and odd numbers, square numbers, greatest common factors and least common multiples. DATA ABOUT US Students will engage in data investigation, graphing, describing data and comparing data sets. SHAPES & DESIGNS Students will discover patterns among sides and angles of basic polygons. BITS & PIECES I Students will work with rational numbers and become familiar with several interpretations and models of fractions: as parts of a whole, measures or quantities, division, decimals and percents. BITS & PIECES II Students will again work with rational numbers and use what they learned in Bits and Pieces I to make sense of many different situations that apply to the real world. COVERING & SURROUNDING Students will understand what it means to measure. This unit will present interesting and challenging tasks focusing on covering (area) and surrounding (perimeter).
