15 DAY  “PARK EXPLORE” BICYCLE  SCAVENGER  HUNT 2013

Come join with your friends and families and take part in the 2013 bicycling event exploring the Centre Region park areas! (Don’t forget to take time to play on the playgrounds.)
 
 Individuals, pairs and teams (consisting of 3 to 5 riders) will be given a list of 50 park areas around town to be biked to and photographed over a 15 day period (April 26 – May 11). Each participant must furnish their own way to take photographs (cameras, phones, etc.) Try to get all participants and their bikes to appear in each photo of each park’s sign. (If sign is not available, playground equipment will substitute.) You must be wearing your bicycle helmet in the photo.  Execute as many of the assigned photo tasks as possible within the time limit of the event (15 days).  List of locations and map will be posted on Thursday, April 25 (evening) on the Centre Region Bicycle Coalition website (http://www.centrebike.org/index.php) and the SCASD Physical Education website (http://www.scasd.org//Domain/25).  No sign-ups or registration needed. 

You must just bring your pix, camera or camera phone with pictures on it, to the Bicycle Extravaganza at Mount Nittany Middle School on Saturday, May 11 at 3pm for validation. A top prize will be awarded in each category for the most locations ridden to and photographed.  Also, a raffle ticket will be given to each individual for every 5 locations. Raffle tickets will be used for various other prizes. Have fun exploring the SC area parks with your family and friends.  All ties will be broken by coin toss.
 
Each participant must furnish a safe operational bicycle for their transportation throughout the Scavenger Hunt event. Helmets must be worn at all times. All traffic laws and rules of the road are to be followed by participants. Participants and their families are advised that they assume all responsibility for their personal wellbeing.

This event will be held rain or shine.  Bicycle rides may be cancelled due to weather (check back here) but the Scavenger Hunt check-in from 3 - 4 pm will be held inside the school lobby.  
 
Update as of 11:45 Saturday morning :  12:30 bike rides are cancelled - a shorter group ride beginning at 2pm will be held followed by the scavenger hunt check in and raffle prize give away at 3pm.  Come and eat some free food also. 
 
12:30 – 3pm:  Community Bicycle Rides (no pre-registration required)
23 miles – Organized and lead by the CRBC leaves at 12:30 PM
    10miles - Organized and lead by the CRBC leaves at 1:30 PM
    4miles – routes pre-arranged with maps available 1:30 – 3 PM
    2miles- routes pre-arranged with maps available 1:30 – 3 PM

    •    riders must provide your own bicycle and helmet
    -    riders will receive 4 raffle tickets for the 23 and 10 mile ride
    -    riders will receive 2 raffle tickets for one 2 or 4 mile ride
    -    Only 1 raffle prize per person
 
3-4 PM:
Music, Free Food, Raffle Tickets and Prizes.
