Library The library serves both students and teachers. The library is open to students from 8:30-3:00. All children are encouraged to return books as soon as they have read them and borrow new ones. Some children read every night and visit the library every day. It's a great habit to develop! Students have one scheduled library period per week. Kindergarten children borrow one book at a time, until January, when they may borrow two. First grade through fifth grade, may borrow two books, plus a book from a bibliography on their reading level. Big book buddies borrow an additional book to share with their little book buddy. Library instruction occurs at all grade levels. Book selection, book retrieval, knowledge of authors and illustrators, and reference work form the major components of the program. Children will become independent library users. This year our author/illustrator is Mr. Floyd Cooper who will visiting Radio Park in May. Look for more information in your first day packet. The library has an active volunteer program. Volunteers rotate on a bi-weekly schedule to assist Mrs. Martha Savino, library paraprofessional, and librarian, Emily Herring. We could not run our program without the volunteers!
