KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION STARTS APRIL 11


 WHEN: Thursday, April 11, 2013 - Friday, April 12, 2013, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM

WHERE: J. C. Penney Courtyard in the Nittany Mall

FOR KINDERGARTEN: Children five years old on or before August 31, 2013 whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) reside in the State College Area School District.

FOR FIRST GRADE: Children must be six years old on or before August 31, 2013 to be enrolled in first grade for the 2013-2014 school year, unless they have, or will have, successfully completed Kindergarten, and written confirmation is provided from the Kindergarten program.

The following two options are available for you to register your child for the 2013-2014 school year. This process does NOT include registration for a charter / cyber or private school.
 
Option 1: A new online enrollment process will begin on March 4th. Information about the process and how to access will be available on the Registration website at http://www.scasd.org//site/Default.aspx?PageID=20484. The Registration Office will not be able to accept in-person registrations until the dates mentioned above at the Nittany Mall location.

Option 2: Registration at the Nittany Mall on the above dates.
After April 12, registration will continue at the District's Student Registration Office, located in Room 119 of the Fairmount Building, 411 S. Fraser St., from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Room 119 is most easily accessed using the entrance along the Fraser Street side of the building, and is marked by a signboard along the sidewalk.

Documents Required for Registration
1. Proof of birth date (birth certificate, baptismal certificate if birth date is shown, or passport). We must see the original document. Photocopies will not be accepted. Registration will not be accepted without proof of birth date.

2. Guardianship & Custody Orders. Persons with legal guardianship or legal custody of a child must bring copies of the document(s) granting the guardianship or custody.

3. Proof of residency in the State College Area School District (deed, lease, or current utility bill for place of residence)

4. Immunization Records. Bring a list of your child's immunizations with you -- it can be a list from your doctor or a record that you have kept. Children entering Kindergarten in Pennsylvania are now required to have the following immunizations:

    4 doses of Diphtheria, with 1 dose given on or after the fourth birthday.
    4 doses of Tetanus, with 1 dose given on or after the fourth birthday.
    3 doses of Polio
    2 doses of Measles, with the first dose given at age 1 or older.
    2 doses of Mumps, given at age 1 or older.
    1 dose of Rubella (German measles), given at age 1 or older.
    3 doses of Hepatitis B
    2 doses of Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine, with the first dose given at age 1 or older, or have had the disease.

Physical Exam
Pennsylvania School Health Law requires a physical exam for all Kindergarten students. The exam is not required for registration. In the State College Area School District, the exam must be done no more than 12 months prior to the start of school and may be done during the school year. The exam can be given by your family physician or provided by the District at no cost. Additional information will be provided at registration.
