Virtual Flex Courses

Summer 2023 Session Information:
Registration for Summer Flex is open. 
Registration will close on 6/2/2023

Summer session will run from June 12th through August 11th.
Cancellations must be received by 6/20/2023 for a refund.

Fall & Spring Sessions:
Registration will open at a later date

SCASD offers a small selection of courses that are normally assigned to a student’s schedule during the school year to be taken over the summer, or during the school year if they are already enrolled in 8 credits on their high school schedule, for a nominal fee. These courses include:

• Driver Safety (.25 credit, $125)
• Health/Wellness (.5 credit, $245)
• Language of Medicine (.5 credit, $245)
• Physical Education (.5 credit, $245)

Format

Students who take these courses will move through them at their own pace with the understanding of the deadline for completion. SCASD teachers will oversee a student’s progress throughout the course and will be available to answer any questions and meet with the students. The Physical Education courses also require a physical activity component.

Course Success

Success in these virtual courses will be highly dependent on a student’s motivation, ability to learn independently, and time management skills. Students who struggle in these areas should consider taking the course in the traditional setting.

Cancellations

All cancellations require a completed/signed Cancellation Form. Cancellation Forms are available at the Counseling Offices or through the link above. To receive a refund, this form should be submitted to the Virtual Academy (vritual@scasd.org) within two weeks from the start of the virtual session (see the cancellation deadline dates above). Refunds are subject to a $15 processing fee.
