MNE/MNMS Clothing Drive & Shop
MNE and MNMS will co-host a clothing drive at Mount Nittany Elementary School the weekend of November 5-7th. The drive will be hosted in the elementary school all-purpose room. We would like to invite you to consider helping in two ways:
Clean out those closets, dressers, and storage lockers, and drop off your clothing donations to the elementary school all-purpose room on Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 - 4:00 PM. Feel free to share this information with friends and neighbors. Goodwill has provided some bags to place the donated clothing. If you are interested in some bags, please have your students ask their homeroom teachers and we will deliver them as soon as possible.
Consider donating some of your time over the weekend to help us sort and fold clothes, and staff the drive. We will also need help bagging all remaining clothes at 3:00 PM on Sunday.
Families may shop for free on Saturday from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM and again on Sunday from 12:00 - 3:00 PM. Please spread the word with any friends or family in our community who may be interested!
**Because of Covid, we ask that all families who attend the drive for shopping, volunteering, or dropping off items be masked. Also, volunteers during the 4:00-6:00 time on Friday will need to be vaccinated due to CEEL being held in part of the All-Purpose Room.**
To volunteer during the clothing drive, please sign up here. Thank you in advance for helping with this community event!

The Community Service Federal Work-Study - Nittany Lions Read/Nittany Lions Count Program is pleased to continue The P.A.W.S. Project!
The P.A.W.S.(Providing Assista
nce With Schoolwork) Project i s a Nittany Lions Read/Nittany Lions Count Program dedicated to offering “homework help and support” to the children and families of the surrounding communities. The P.A.W.S. Project employs eligible and qualified Penn State Students to engage remotely with third through eighth grade children to provide individualized homework support in the areas of literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. The Community Service Federal Work-Study Office within the Office of Student Aid at The Penn State University – University Park, coordinates the P.A.W.S. Program. Utilizing Zoom, program staff will review the child’s homework assignments, assessing and strategizing with the child to establish a manageable approach to the child’s homework success. Throughout the engagement, program staff seek to determine areas of both strength and need and encourage/assist the child to not only complete their assignments, but also to comprehend the topics or concepts more fully.
Interested families may schedule a "Homework Help" session utilizing the link below. Should a family be interested in more information or have any questions, they can email Carla M. Glisan directly or utilize the program's email, nittanylionsread@psu.
Once a family has booked a session, they will be forwarded a Registration Form via email which must be completed and returned to finalize their child's registration with the program.
Please forward any questions or concerns to Carla M. Glisan at email@example.com. We are excited to explore the endless possibilities of how our program can continue to support the children and families of the State College Area School District!

YMCA Food Backpack Program Registration
Dear MNE Parent/Guardian,
YMCA of Centre County’s Backpack Program for the 2021-22 school year is getting ready to begin! If you are interested in having your child participate in this program, please complete the registration form attached and return to your child's school. The Backpack Program distributes backpacks full of food each Friday to ensure students have enough food to eat over the weekend. Each child participating will receive breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack for both Saturday and Sunday.
If you have multiple children, please complete a separate application for each child. There is no limit on the number of children per household that can receive a backpack. A hard copy of the attached registration form is being sent home with students as well.
We’re very pleased to be able to offer this program as a way to give back and provide much-needed assistance to families in our community. You will not be asked to provide any financial information in order to participate. Additionally, your name and personal information will be kept private and not distributed to any outside agency.
I look forward to serving your child this school year! If you have any questions, please reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 814-342-0889.
