  • Special Olympics Parade of Athletes

    The athletes hadn’t even left for the Special Olympics Centre County Annual Geri Ryan Track Meet, and already they were champions. Students two and three deep lined the State High hallway and lobby leading to the front door, cheering and applauding, as the athletes accepted high fives on their way to buses.

  • State High food court opens!

    Gone are the days of the old high school cafeteria. Today we opened the new State High food court to rave reviews! The food court opening brings the State High Project one step closer to the expected summer of 2019 completion.

  • Vocal Music Teacher Patti Begg

    Under her tutelage, Begg’s students at Park Forest and Gray’s Woods elementary schools sharpen their ears. They learn to listen carefully, to identify rhythmic patterns and sing them, to fully engage their brains with the joys of hearing and making music.

  • Mount Nittany Middle School wins Mathcounts title

    At the state Mathcounts competition, MNMS repeated as champions with the team of Zach Cheslock, Daniel Miller, Tony Tzolov and Jenny Yu. Coaches Rebekah Sjoberg and Susan Owens had an additional reason to celebrate as Park Forest Middle School took bronze.

  • Jump Rope for Heart

    About 150 sets of springy legs skipped and shuffled in the Jump Rope for Heart event in February at State High, helping raise $60,968 for the American Heart Association — a record for the annual benefit organized by the SCASD physical education department.
