  • Meet SCASD's Interim Superintendent

    SCASD is sailing into a fresh school year with a new captain at the helm. Curtis Johnson, the former assistant superintendent of secondary education, currently leads the district as the interim superintendent while the search continues for Bob O’Donnell’s successor.

  • Students Lead Effort to Urge Safe Gun Storage

    September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, but a Delta Program student group already was trying to protect youth this summer by finishing a successful campaign supported by county commissioners and local police to inform families about safe gun storage in homes.

  • SCASD Begins the 2022-2023 School Year

    On Aug. 23, 2022, SCASD plunged into a fresh year, leaving summer break behind and infusing schools with energy and optimism. “It’s so, so great to have you back!” Park Forest Middle School Principal Karen Wiser said on the morning announcement broadcast. “We missed you over the summer."

  • Expanding Foreign Language Opportunities

    A new foreign languages program provided elementary students with academic enrichment and intervention. Fourth and fifth-graders explored a language with three or four weekly 2-hour classes, choosing from French, Spanish, German, Chinese or Japanese.

  • Cello Choir Camp

    For the first time ever, the State College Area School District music department hosted a cello choir camp. Over 60 students representing all schools in the district participated in the four-day program.
