Welcome to Advanced Astronomy!Advanced Astronomy is a semester course (.5 credit) designed for college-bound students seeking in-depth experiences in the Earth Sciences. Emphasis is placed on understanding the physical environment through an increased awareness of the processes of science.
An introductory unit covers the basics of backyard astronomy with a historical perspective. Later units include the solar system, stars and stellar evolution, galaxies and galactic evolution, and cosmology. Students will be required to design their own space colony as a term project, with the prospect of it becoming a graduation project.
