    Dear SCASD High School School Parent/Guardian:
     
    I am your child’s art teacher at State College Area School District this year.  I am originally from Pittsburgh, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your child and reside in such a wonderful community!  

    This year your child will learn art-making traditions along with art history, criticism, and aesthetics.    Your child will begin to view the creation of art as a problem-solving process similar to the processes in mathematics and science. In art, mistakes are important learning experiences; the experiment is more important than the outcome.  
    I truly am excited to work with the wonderful students, teachers, and parents of such an excellent school. I hope, with your support, your child will have an enjoyable and enlightening school year!
