I am in my 16th year of teaching in the State College Area School District. I currently teach Wellness for Life but have also taught 9th-grade wellness and PE as part of the 9LC and Leadership and Wellness. I am excited to take over the role of K-12 department chairperson for health, physical education, family and consumer science and drivers safety.
I am a graduate of Penn State University. I have a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science and a Master of Education in Health Education. I received my second Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Slippery Rock University. Prior to teaching, I was an Exercise and Health Education Specialist for American Corporate Health Programs and later was the Wellness Director of a full-scale wellness program at a large retirement community in south central PA. My prior teaching experience was in the Neshannock Township School District in New Castle, PA where I taught middle school health and physical education to grades K, 3, 4 and 9-12.
Personally, I am married with one daughter who is a ninth grader at State High. My husband, Randy, is a Technology Education teacher at the Delta Middle School. I am an avid sports fan and rarely miss a Penn State football game (except to see my daughter play soccer). I enjoy watching my daughter play sports, traveling, exercising, preparing and eating healthy food, spending time with friends and family and being outdoors.
