Welcome! My name is Mrs. Kellander and this is my fifth year on the fifth grade team at Park Forest Elementary School. Before becoming a PFE Penguin, I taught sixth grade for eight years at Park Forest Middle School. 

I’m looking forward to an a-m-a-z-i-n-g year! New adventures, new challenges, new books (YES!). Of course, our journey together will have winding curves, ups and downs, and may even throw us for a loop, but we will grow and learn together, posing questions, discovering new things about ourselves, others, and our world. :-)

 

Five Facts about Mrs. Kellander

 

1. I love the beach! I even got married there! 

2. My husband, Mr. K is a sixth grade teacher at PFMS. We have two daughters–Amelia is nine and Emmalee is seven. We also have two Miniature Schnauzers--Izzy just turned two and Piper is one. 

3. Reading is my jam! I love to read all kinds of books--including graphic novels! I even attended a Graphic Novel Institute at the Teachers College at Columbia University to learn how to create them with my students!

4. Do you like to sing random songs? I do! Be prepared for the Golden Microphone and my (maybe) on key singing! 

5. I enjoy being outside--working in my garden, riding my bike, or rollerblading. I can even twirl and skate backwards.
