• About Me

My educational background includes psychology as well as special education.  I received my BS in Psychology from Penn State and received my Masters Degree in Special Education from NC State in 2000. A few years ago, I took classes at FIT to become a BCBA and I passed my boards in February 2014.  My current endeavor is working toward my ESL certification.

I started my teaching career in 1996.  My first few years of teaching were in North Carolina near Raleigh.  First, I taught in an Autistic Support classroom.  I spent my latter years in North Carolina as a Learning Support Teacher.

I have been teaching in the State College School District since 2002.  Through 2013, I was a Itinerant Autistic and Emotional Support Teacher at various schools in the district.  In 2014, I had the opportunity to take on a new position as the Autistic/Emotional/Learning Support at Easterly Parkway, which allowed me teach academics while continuing to assist our students with social skills needs and behavioral challenges.  In 2018, my role shifted solely to Learning Support.  I am enjoying the experience of helping students improve their language arts and math skills while assisting them in learning to self-advocate and to appreciate their unique strengths.

I grew up in Boalsburg, moved to North Carolina for 10 years and came back to the State College area for my current job and to be closer to my family.   I live with my husband Tim, our dog Milo and our 2 cats Milo, and Sparky.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as reading, gardening, cooking, hiking and traveling.
