- A - Accuracy
Every web site has a unique address or URL (Universal Resource Locator). At the end of every URL is a period followed by a three letter code. This code is part of the domain name and helps you to identify the purpose of the web site. The five most commonly used domains are:- .edu - This domain is used by educational sites. (Sample: http://www.nationalzoo.si.edu)
- .org - This domain is used by nonprofit organizations. (Sample: http://www.pittsburghzoo.org)
- .com - This domain is used by commercial or business sites. (Sample: http://www.bronxzoo.com)
- .gov - This domain is used by the federal government. (Sample: http://www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au)
- .net - This domain is used by organizations which provide services to commercial or individual customers. (Sample: http://www.particlezoo.net)
