  • Community Building

The community building committee sponsors fun events over the course of the school year where parents and students can get to know other parents and students in a fun social environment, fostering a feeling of friendship within our school community. Here are some ideas that have been successful in the past; depending on current interest or volunteer help, these activities may or may not be scheduled each year.

     Community Building Events

Family Night Out:  This is an opportunity to enjoy an outing with your family and friends from Radio Park that also benefits the PTO. Often we visit a local restaurant that contributes funds to our PTO.

New Student Orientation:  This is an event for families new to Radio Park.  They are introduced to the school prior to starting at Radio Park.

Kindergarten Ice Cream Social:  A social event specifically geared to incoming Kindergartners and their families to make them feel comfortable with Radio Park and help them to make new friends before the first day of school.

Roller Skating Party:  A fall event held at Penn Skates.  A fun event where Radio Park families can roller skate and meet other families.

BINGO Night:  A fun night of playing Bingo.

Author/Illustrator Visit:  Taking place in the spring, the Radio Park PTO invites an author or illustrator of children's books to Radio Park to speak to the students about writing or illustrating.

SLAM Fair:  A chance for our students to showcase their Science, Literary, Art or Music talents for their peers and Radio Park families.

Friendship Night:  ]Friendship night is an opportunity for families to come together as a school community for dinner and movie under the stars.

Staff/Teacher Appreciation:  Coinciding with Teacher Appreciation Day, we take time to provide the teachers and staff with a nice breakfast to show them that we appreciate them.

Book Exchange:  A way for students to swap books with other students for some great new reads, especially helpful as children pick books that they can read over the summer,

Staff/Teacher Luncheon:  An end of the year lunch to celebrate the hard work that the entire staff of Radio Park put in to helping the students this school year.

Garden Project:  Our Radio Park garden.  A great way for our students to learn about growing plants as well as an opportunity for them to sample different vegetables.

Birthday Books:  An opportunity for families to donate books to our Radio Park library in honor of their students.

Party Line:  A directory of parents and students in our school community.  This directory also lists contact information for students' parents.
