AWARD PURPOSE: SCAHSAA annually undertakes a careful consideration of the community involvement, academic attainment, and/or occupational achievement at international, national, state, or local levels of selected State High alumni, for the purpose of designating a Distinguished Alumnus (masculine) or Alumna (feminine). The intent of conferring any such designation shall be to recognize the accomplishment, character, behavior, or reputation of those persons who stand high above others and bring honor and credit to State College Area High School.

AWARD PROCESS: A Selection Committee annually solicits profiles of State High alumni suitable for consideration for being designated as a Distinguished Alumnus or Alumna and, using the criteria contained in the Association’s Guidelines for Voting, forwards the top-ranked profiles to members of the Voting Committee (Association Directors, Trustees, and Selection Committee members) who, by utilizing the same criteria, make the final determination of none, one, or two worthy recipients of the designation for the upcoming year.

Distinguished Alums participate in the annual homecoming activities including a reception in the designee’s honor, riding in the parade, and participating in the presentation ceremony in Memorial Field at the end of the parade.
