• HOMEWORK

Every night of every day of the week you are to read.  The amount of time spent reading will of course vary according to how much time you have to do it and just how engaged you are with the book you have chosen to read.  I expect you to read for at least 20 minutes.  That is what you are aiming for... set a timer and see if you can enter the reading zone for that amount of time!

You will know your 50 states, their capitals, major cities, and land formations by the end of the year.   Keep working on them through games, map completions, puzzles, reading books, drawing your own maps, or making your own 3-D United States map.  Have fun with it!

You may or may not receive math homework.

We will have on-going projects involving history, writing, book sharing, and science.  There is no limit to the amount of fun you can have with learning and sharing what you've learned.  I welcome you to share your interests and teach us about what fascinates you.  We are all learners in life!

District Homework policy for 5th grade:

20 minutes for nightly reading and 20 minutes daily maximum or 80 minutes weekly maximum for other homework
