• Substitute Employment Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in substitute employment opportunities with the State College Area School District. This is an excellent school system in which to work, and we are actively seeking outstanding people to join our support staff.

To obtain an application packet, please contact Shelbi Smeltzer, Substitute Coordinator, via email as sls15@scasd.org. Please inform Shelbi if you are currently employed by SCASD in another capacity (coaching, Community Education instructor, part-time employee, etc.).

If you are not currently employed by the District, you will need current clearances (FBI, State, and Child Abuse).  Clearances are considered current if they are less than one year old for new employment or five years for current employees. You also need a certification of completion for the Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training. You can register and complete your training via this link.

If you would like to apply to be a substitute teacher but do not hold a teaching certificate, you can apply for a day-to-day emergency certification if you hold a Bachelor’s Degree. Click here for additional information on how to apply for an emergency certification. Emergency certifications must be renewed yearly.
