Meet Mrs. Henderson

  • Hello!  My name is Mrs. Henderson, and I am so excited to be your teacher this year.

    Mrs. H

I began my teaching career at the Pennsylvania State University with the PDS program in 2011.  I taught for the full year in a first and second multi-age classroom at Park Forest Elementary.  After completing my internship, I moved to Fairfax, Virginia and taught at Freedom Hill Elementary.  There, I had the opportunity to teach fourth grade for three years and second grade for my final year.  Additionally, I got my master's in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Math Specialist.  I moved back to State College in 2015 after getting married and have loved being in Room 27 at Corl Street.

Last year, my husband and I welcomed our first daughter into the world.  We had so much fun this summer going to the Arboretum and swinging at the playgrounds. Outside of school, I love to cook.  My husband and I try to make at least one new recipe each week!  I also enjoy being outdoors, whether it be going for a run, going on a hike, or exploring a new place.

I cannot wait to get to know more about you and your family this school year.  If you even need to contact me, please feel free to reach out to me at

    Miss Long:

Hi! My name is Miss Long and I am so excited to learn along with you this year! I am a senior at the Pennsylvania State University majoring in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I also have two minors in Human Development Family Studies and Deafness and Hearing Studies. I will be student teaching in second grade until November. Then, I will be traveling to Greece to teach English for 4 weeks!

Outside of teaching, I am very involved with Penn State’s THON. I fundraise with my education club, SPSEA. Last year I was given the opportunity to be a THON dancer for SPSEA, where I spent 46 hours without sitting or sleeping to raise awareness and show support for the families affected by pediatric cancer. (Something Mrs. Henderson did when she was at Penn State, too!)

I look forward to getting to know you and your family this year! If you need to contact me, please feel free to email me at
