Originally, I am from Northern New Jersey (so I talk fast), but I call State College my home. I came to State College as a Penn State student and never left. I am starting my 18th-year of teaching and can say that this year will be the most unique. School will look different this year; things may change, but I am confident that we can weather this together with grace, resourcefulness, flexibility and hope. Emily Dickinson say it best, “ “Hope” is the thing with feathers -/That perches in the soul -/ And sings the tune without the words -/ And never stops - at all -” (314).

When I am not teaching, I love to garden, run, and spend time with my family. My husband, Mike Bierly, is a Science teacher at Park Forest Middle School and my children, Cora and Blair, attend Delta Middle School and  Corl Street Elementary School, respectively. My four-year old pitbull named Angie rounds out our family.
