In this .5 credit English class designed for seniors, the primary goal is to build the students' public speaking skills through a variety of practice exercises, informal, and formal speeches. Students will learn about the elements of speechwriting and delivery that most effectively gain and maintain the attention of an audience. There is also a focus on effective messaging. Participants will be speaking about topics of personal interest and serving as an active audience for their classmates. Students will also engage in informal and formal debate activities to sharpen their skills at presenting a compelling argument and winning over an audience.
