    Catalog Description:

    Supply Chain Management provides students an introduction to the career area of Supply Chain Management (SCM).  This course will assist students to understand the characteristic elements of integrated business logistics, the role and application of logistics principles to supply/demand/value chain management, the application of a selection of inventory management / analytical tools in solving logistics problems, aspects of strategic integrated logistics management and global integrated logistics activities.

    Goals & objectives for the course:

    Students will learn the following:

    ·      How SCM can benefit businesses

    ·      The importance of logistics in private and public organizations

    ·      How logistics affects the economy

    ·      The difference between purchasing, procurement, and strategic sourcing

    ·      E-sourcing and e-procurement

    ·      Different models of e-commerce

    ·      Distribution tradeoffs

    ·      Efforts that go into managing a fulfillment center

    ·      Different warehousing options

    Job Shadow:  Students are responsible to set up and complete a job shadow with a company in the field of Supply Chain.  The assignments will be posted on Google Classroom, with the presentation beginning the week of May 16th 2016

    Evaluation Procedures:

    Students will be evaluated in several different forms of assessment. They will be expected to take written exams, complete homework, participate in class discussions as well as group projects and simulations.

    Attendance:

    Attendance in this class is essential in order for the students to be successful as well as to learn the material. When a student is absent they should email the instructor to see what was missed in class. If a student is absent on a due date, they are responsible for getting the work to the instructor on that day regardless if they are in class or not.
