    Director of Food Service
     
    Megan Schaper has been the district’s Food Service Director since 1993. She is responsible for all aspects of the schools’ cafeteria operations including planning the daily menus, hiring and training staff, purchasing equipment and supplies, and ensuring compliance with USDA regulations for healthy school meals. In addition, Megan co-chairs the district’s School Health Council, which is charged with implementing, monitoring and revising the Wellness Policy.
     
    Megan was named the 2012 School Nutrition Association of Pennsylvania’s (SNAPa) Director of the Year. She was recognized for her hard work, innovative ideas and dedication to the school nutrition program. In addition, her commitment to improving the district’s food service program according to ever-changing trends, dedication to staff development and school and community involvement were highlighted.

    Her education includes:
    B.S., Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, Pennsylvania State University, 1988. 

    Certification:
    She is certified as a School Nutrition Specialist by the School Nutrition Association.

    Her prior professional experiences include:

    • Food Service Director, Shaler Area School District, Pittsburgh, PA
    • Food Service Director, Farrell Area School District, Farrell, PA
    Megan is active and involved in advancing the availability, quality and acceptance of school nutrition programs as an integral part of education. She is on the boards of the School Nutrition Association of Pennsylvania (SNAPa) and Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Directors (PRFSD). She is a bid committee member for PRFSD. She is president-elect of the Clear-Cen Chapter of SNAPa. Megan is also a member of the Pennsylvania Assoc. of School Business Officials.

    Megan has two daughters. Her husband, Jim, is a math teacher at the High School.
