Every day in our classroom, we will be taking time to have a snack. In second grade, we do not provide a whole-class snack for your child. Instead, if your child would like a snack, we ask you to provide one from home. Our lunch this year is at 12:15. We will have snack around 10:05.
In an effort to provide students with the healthiest environment we can, we are encouraging you to provide only healthy snacks for school snacks. Children need healthy snacks to help them grow and support wellness. If you give your child healthy snacks now, he or she will learn to make healthy food choices in the future. We want your children (our students!) to be the healthiest they can be.
Some healthy snack foods: Fresh cut-up fruit • Graham crackers • Yogurt • Vegetables • Whole-grain crackers or toast with hummus • Fruit salad • String cheese • Popcorn • Banana • Whole-grain muffins or bagels
As always, if you and your child would like to bring in a whole-class treat for your child’s birthday, you are more than welcome. This treat will be served during lunch. It is okay for it to break these guidelines!
