  • Bonjour, tout le monde!
I am thrilled to be your French teacher this year.  It is going to be a terrific year, and you will be very pleased with how much you grow in your ability to interpret and communicate in French!
The 2020-2021 school year is my 11th year at Mount Nittany Middle School.  Previously, I taught for 8 years at a large high school outside of Philadelphia, called Upper Darby High School.  Teaching here is sort of like coming home, because I grew up in the SCASD system, but went to Park Forest Junior High, right before MNMS was built.  Yes, I am that old!  At Mount Nittany, I am lucky enough to teach French to 6th, 7th and 8th graders, as well as work with students in the Nittany News studio.  Madame Goeller and I are the co-advisors for the morning announcements.  See me if you would like to be involved, whether in front of, or behind, the camera!
At home, I am Mom to two terrific sons:  Karl, who is 14 years old, and Anton, who is 6.  Mr. Helmerich, the kids and I love hanging out together at home, watching movies, playing games, bike riding in our neighborhood and playing in the backyard.  When I get a few moments to myself, I love to knit (see me if you want to learn...sometimes I offer a knitting AREA), experiment in the kitchen, read, and work on small home decorating projects.  Fitness and nutrition are very important to our family; I wake up every morning at 5 a.m. to get a workout in!  It's a great routine that energizes me for the school day. We love to prepare healthy meals loaded with fresh vegetables.
Most summers, I try to run a trip to French-speaking Canada for students, who are completing 8th grade or beyond.   If you think this is something you might be interested in for next summer, feel free to talk to me about it!
