A little about me:
I graduated from Penn State in 2011 (B.A. in English Lit), then served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Armenia for two years, where I taught English to K-12 Armenian students throughout my service (amongst a lot of other projects). After returning from Peace Corps service, I taught English in Mérida, Spain for five months. While living overseas, I traveled as much as possible and learned to speak both Armenian and Spanish fluently.
In 2015, I got my M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction through the PDS partnership with Penn State at State High. I taught Advanced English 11 during that year of student-teaching. I also have experience teaching ESL and coaching swimming & lacrosse.
I am a certified meditation teacher and teach Yoga as well through TriYoga Central Pennsylvania. I value mindfulness and mental health support both inside and outside the classroom, and I love teaching my students ways to more effectively cope with stress. When I am not teaching, I also love to be outdoors, read, and write. I love words. I also enjoy psychology, philosophy, and environmental science. I have a rescued dog named Mia from Armenia who owns a puppy passport and has flown with me over the Atlantic to be here! I now also have many other pets, and my wife and I dream of one day having an animal rescue refuge in our yard.
Marion, my daughter, is three. I hope to model what it means to be a good teacher and mother for her through my work at State High. She is my primary joy.
