    Basic School Information for ESL Families

     Start and End Times of School Day

    Elementary schools: 8:10 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

    Middle schools: 8:40 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.

    High school: 8:40 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.

    Transportation

    Transportation information will be provided at your child’s school. Transportation to and from school falls into the following categories:

    Bus:  Arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled time

    Walk:  Contact school for policies

    Parent (car):  Contact school for policies

    Attendance

    Please be sure your child arrives at school on time. If your child is:

    Late: Report to office with a parent or a note for sign-in.

    Absent/Sick: Call the Safe Arrival at School (SAS) phone number for elementary. Contact your child’s school for secondary.

    Excuse: Send in an excused note within 48 hours of your child’s absence.

    Lunch Information

    To manage your child’s’ school lunch account, go to the MySchoolBucks.com web page. This program allows you to:

    Deposit money into your child's school meal account

    View your child's account balance

    View a 90-day history of your child's purchases and payments

    Request automatic email notification when your child's account balance is low.

    Home Access Center

    Parents, guardians and students can view a variety of information here such as:

    Current school year progress reports (Grades K-5)

    Current school year report card and grades (Grades 6-12)

    Ongoing class work progress (Grades 6-12)

    Demographic Information

    Student schedules and teacher course recommendations (available when completed each year for grades 5-11)

    Assessment scores for grades K-12 (PSSA, Keystones, OLSAT, MAP)

    Health and Safety

    Keep your child home if:

    Fever above 100 degrees Fahrenheit

    Vomiting/Diarrhea

    Rash or sores

    Red eyes with drainage

    Head lice

    The nurse will call you if your child becomes sick at school. If your child needs to be treated by a physician, here are some options:
