    Hello everyone,

    We have a few reminders for this coming week.

     1) Our Scholastic Book Fair starts tomorrow online and runs until Sunday, November 1st


    2) Our October PTO Meeting will be held this Wednesday, October 21st at 7pm on Zoom. Please use this link to join, all are welcome to attend. https://psu.zoom.us/j/96299065334

    3) Our teachers are still in need of gallon sized Ziploc style bags for remote learning materials and also our Specials teachers require them for all our students to distribute and keep materials separate. If you are able to donate, it would be much appreciated!

  • PFE Family in Need

    Dear PFE Community,

    I am extremely sorry to share with you that one of our PFE families tragically lost their mother following the birth of a healthy son. The PTO is organizing a diaper, formula, and wipes drive to support this family. Please drop off any new packs of Huggies diapers and wipes and Similac Pro Advance formula at Park Forest Elementary and we will get them to the family. If you are able to donate to this family during this time of need it would be much appreciated. We will keep you informed of any other ways that we may help this family in the upcoming months.

  • PTO Welcome Back to School

    Hello PFE Families,


    We hope everyone is getting through this very different start to the school year. Usually, the PTO would have been in touch earlier but given the current circumstances we have held off with any additional emails or announcements. 

    That being said, this Wednesday, September 16th will be our first PTO Meeting of the school year, at 7pm. All PTO Meetings will be held on Zoom only for the foreseeable future, regardless of whether school is in person or full remote. The zoom link for our Wednesday meeting will be posted on our Facebook page next week.

    With the start of the new year, it would be helpful if families can update their information on Membership Toolkit, or if you have a new Kindergarten student, please feel free to add them to our directory.

    Additionally, we would like to inform families that our Fun Run which is usually held in October will be postponed until the Spring. We are wanting to hold as many usual PTO events, as we can, and keep some PFE traditions going! However, safety is a priority and some events during the year may end up being virtual. To plan a Fun Run right now seems like a tall order in the current climate and with so many other things going on. However, it is our main fundraiser and we really want to support our school in the best way possible, we are hoping that in the Spring life is a little more settled and we can make plans more easily.

    Good Morning everyone,


    Thank you to everyone that came along to Basket Bingo on Friday, it was a fantastic evening, and we appreciate all the support, donations, help from many volunteers; with an extra special thanks to Melissa Stone for leading the event along with Rebecca Desmarais. Also, a big thank you to Mrs. Funk, Miss. Ollendyke and Mrs. Stultz for being the best bingo callers going and volunteering their Friday evening to help make the evening extra fun! 


    I am thrilled to announce that we raised an amazing amount $4650!! Thank you again for the wonderful support of this event and our school!


    This week we will be collecting Box Tops to send in for submission. With the change over to the Box Tops app our income from this has greatly reduced. If you have any Box Tops laying around and ready to send in, please collect them up as we would love to have them! Please send them to school by Wednesday, in order that they can be included in time.


    Following this we will be thinking about the upcoming events for the Spring. Further details will be sent nearer the time, but save the date for:


    Scholastic Book Fair - Monday, April 6th, (one day only Fair).

    SLAM Fair - Friday, April 17th, sign ups and information will be available after Spring Break.

    PFE Annual Campout - Friday, May 29th.

  • PTO News and Basket Bingo

    Good Evening PFE!


    This week is a full and fun week of activities! Tomorrow evening is our PTO Meeting in the Library at 7pm. We will be finalizing details for Basket Bingo and beginning to plan our SLAM Fair. We hope you are able to attend. If you would like to join remotely via Zoom please feel free to dial in. The dial in information will be posted tomorrow on our Facebook page.


    On Thursday evening at 6pm PTO volunteers will be stuffing and arranging baskets ready for Friday. If you are able to help out for an hour or so, please meet in the Teachers Lounge and join the fun! It's exciting to see the baskets come together and how great they end up looking!


    Additionally, if you would still like to donate to your classroom basket we are able to accept items up until Thursday. We are very grateful for all donations that have been sent to school! 


    The schedule for Friday evening is as follows:

    Food sales - 5pm. Pizza, hot dogs, pasta salad, chips, fruit, baked goods, juice and water

    Ticket sales - 5pm

    Bingo begins - 6pm. Books prizes for all! 

    Basket Winners drawn - 7pm.

    Cash or checks ONLY will be accepted. Tickets for bingo will also be for sale during the day on Friday during lunchtime between 12 and 1:15pm.


    Additionally, we are still in need of a few more volunteers to help sell tickets on Friday evening and donate baked goods to the food sale.

    Finally, we do have a Spirit Wear announcement. Since, the printing company did have an error on the ordering, we are wanting to double check that all orders have now been fulfilled. If you have not yet received your shirt please let us know at pfepto@gmail.com. Additionally, due to the color misprint we do now have extra tie dye shirts that were printed in green. We are able to offer these shirts at a discounted price of $10. Cash or check only and orders will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Sizes available are: 

    • 9 youth small
    • 7 youth medium
    • 5 youth large
    • 3 adult small
    • 2 adult large
    • 1 adult XL

    Please reply to pfepto@gmail.com if you are interested in purchasing a shirt. For reference purposes the green tie dye shirt will look like this with the addition of our PFE 2019/2020 logo.

  • Basket BIngo Night

    Friday, February 21st 5pm.


    The PTO is looking forward to this event next week! 

    Thank you to those of you that have already sent in items to school to help fill our baskets, they are starting to look really great! If you would still like to donate items, please send items in all week long. The baskets are always amazing and I know this will be a popular event. If you are unable to attend on the 21st, you may buy tickets ahead of time, for a chance to still win! Please return the ticket order form that was sent home in folders, with the amount of tickets you would like and the basket(s) of your choice.


    Additionally, we are selling food at this event - starting at 5pm. If you are able to help with providing baked goods 

    to donate to our food sale please use the link below. We ask that any items containing peanuts or nut products are labeled clearly :)



    We are also still in need of volunteers during Basket Bingo to help sell tickets, food etc. Please use the link below if you are able to volunteer for an hour or so during the evening.

  • Basket Bingo Night

    Friday, February 21st 5pm.

    Thank you to everyone that came along to the Chili Cook Off on Friday. We are now looking forward to our next event Basket Bingo which is always a popular and fun event and a great fundraiser!

    Each classroom is collecting donations for themed baskets and we thank those of you that have already sent in items to school! The baskets are always amazing and if you are unable to attend you may buy tickets ahead of time, for a chance to still win! Ticket order forms will sent home at the end of this week. On the evening of Basket Bingo food will be available for purchase from 5pm, so it is great excuse to not have to cook dinner on a Friday night! Tickets may be purchased at the event and then Bingo will begin at 6pm, with book prizes for all children. Basket winners will be drawn and announced at 7pm. Of course to make this event a success we do need your help!

  • PTO News

    I hope everyone is nicely settled into the New Year and enjoying this mild weather! Now that January is well underway, the PTO is looking forward to our upcoming events over the next few months.

    Firstly, our PTO Meeting will be held this Wednesday, January 15th at 7pm in the Library. All are welcome to attend, especially, as we will be planning our upcoming events. Details for dialing through Zoom to the meeting will be shared on the Facebook page in due course.

    Secondly, our Annual Chili Cook Off will be held on Friday, January 24th. 6-7:30pm. If you are interested in entering the contest and possibly dethroning Mr. Weed from his reigning spot then sign up and enter the fun!! You will need to bring one crock pot of chili and name your chili. Please email Mr. Weed at tvw11@scasd.org if you are interested. For families joining us that evening for food and excellent PFE comradery please bring the following to share:

    K and 1st - Desserts

    2nd & 3rd - Side Dishes

    4th & 5th - Chips and Chili Toppings

    Next, is our always popular Basket Bingo event. This will be held on Friday, February 21st 5-8pm. A flyer will be sent home shortly in your child's folder regarding basket donations. If you are interested in helping with this event, please just let me know. Food will be available for purchase, bingo with book prizes for all and then the all exciting drawing of the baskets winners will make for a great evening and hopefully a successful PFE fundraiser!

    Finally, I have been asked by Nurse Decker whether any families have old sweatpants or leggings that they could donate to the school. Items that your own kids might have grown out of. Nurse Decker currently has a very low clothing supply in all sizes (4T upwards) and at this time of year there is a high demand for clothing changes after recess with muddy messes and slips in the snow and ice. Please send anything that you might have directly to Nurse Decker.
