    Sue Sheridan

Sue Sheridan was an Educational Secretary for the title 1 Reading Program at the State College Area District, before that she was a Home Economics teacher at William Tenet High School. She also was an Emergency Room Secretary at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Although an only child at birth, through marriage, she gained 20 siblings to whom she was deeply devoted and who were also deeply devoted to her. She particularly cherished annual trips to the beach with her family, children, and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, enjoyed politics, and on given Sunday in the fall could be found cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was an only child of a plumber turned Vo-Tech plumbing teacher.

As an only child of a plumber turned Vocational plumbing teacher and a school secretary and sometimes nursery school teacher-mother, Sue had opportunities that other kids did not have. She was always sensitive to students who missed out simply because they could not afford to participate.

    John Sheridan shares...

I am very pleased that the SSF can support students seeking special experiences, that the SSF allows school staff and community members the opportunity to contribute to that support and that the SFF keeps alive the memory of my wife Sue and her strong belief that all students should have access to special experiences no matter their financial means.”

The Sue Sheridan Fund depends upon the generous donations of individuals and business in order to provide support for students.

Since the fund’s creation in 2009, the volunteer panel has had the goal of providing assistance for every request from students in need. Donations help State College K-12 students participate in meaningful activities beyond the classroom.
