• Model United Nations, which is also known as Model UN or MUN, is a conference style simulation of the real United Nations. Participants represent delegates, typically from different nations, as they work out various issues ranging from world food insecurity to a future zombie apocalypse to the Watergate scandal and everything in between. Club members have the opportunity to attend at least two conferences per school year, competing with other high schools. Throughout the year, State High MUN holds weekend simultions.

Hi everyone! My name is Victoria Zhu and I’ll be serving as your 2020/21 Model UN President of Meetings. I’m currently a junior at State High and will be entering my third year in Model UN. Last year, I had the pleasure of serving as the Model UN treasurer, and can’t wait to get more involved this year! Besides Model UN, I am also an officer in DECA and a debate captain in forensics. Outside of school, you can find me working, hanging out with friends, and volunteering in the community. I’ve loved my time in Model UN so far, with so many amazing moments - such as grabbing boba at CMUNC and karaoke on the BOSMUN party limo. I can’t wait for this year and am so excited to get to know all of you!

Hi! My name is Nika Kello, and I am your President of Events for Model UN. I am a junior this year and have participated in State High MUN since my freshman year of high school, serving as secretary my sophomore year. I love MUN because it gives students a platform to voice their ideas about changing the world and because it helps develop incredibly valuable speaking, writing, and collaboration skills that one can use in high school and beyond. When I'm not attending Model UN conferences, planning for meetings, or reminiscing about past conferences, you might find me playing my violin or spending time outside!

Hello! My name is Maya Ikenberry and I am your Model UN secretary for the 2020/2021 school year. I am a junior and I also run cross country and participate in State High's yoga club and DECA. This will be my second year in Model UN and I loved our trip to Boston last year. I'm so excited to explore new topics and places with everyone here!

Hi everyone! My name is Elliott Rose and I'm your 2020/21 Model United Nations Treasurer. I am currently a Junior at State High and this will be my third year in this club. In my free time, I enjoy reading all kinds of novels, although Science Fiction and Fantasy are two of my favourite genres, and playing video games. Other than MUN, I also participate in Marching Band, Acclivity and a few other clubs at the High School. Finally, throughout my time at MUN I have so many crazy stories, such as electing Kermit the Frog as the leader of the USSR and more, so I hope this coming year will have just as many memorable moments for everyone!

Hi! My name is Oz Gitelson and I'm one of your 2020/21 Directors of Simulation. I am currently a junior and have been doing Model UN for 3 years, and during this time my favorite memory has been losing my voice playing bingo at BOSMUN. Outside of MUN, I am also an officer for the Forensics club and a member of DECA. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and coding. Feel free to reach out to me for any reason, and I look forward to working with all you this year.

Hi! My name is Kyle Hynes, and I'm really excited to be one of the simulation directors for Model UN! I'm a senior, and this will be my third year in the club. Aside from Model UN, I also participate in debate and quiz bowl, and play soccer for my club team. My favorite memories from Model UN, among many, are rewriting the French Constitution at last year's PHUNC and teaching half the club Irish nationalist songs on the bus to BosMUN. Hobbies of mine include twiddling my thumbs and crying into my Pandemic Pillow while aimlessly searching for nonexistent plane tickets to New Zealand on Expedia. If you have any questions, or topics you'd like to see for a simulation, please feel free to reach out!
