Hello, my name is Kelly Conron and I will be teaching 9th-grade Wellness and Physical Education at State College High School this year. Wellness and fitness have been a passion of mine since attending State College High School as a student (2005). The influential teachers and great athletic programs that State High provided me fostered my love for lifelong fitness, health, and education. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education and a minor in Coaching from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 2009. In December of 2016, I earned a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Wellness and Fitness from California University of Pennsylvania.
I have been teaching Health and Physical Education for the past 13 years, 3 of those years were spent in Mexico City, Mexico teaching at The American School Foundation, and 5 of those years were spent in Atlanta, Georgia teaching at Fulton County Schools. I will be starting my 5th year at State High this year.
My interest in activity and sports has involved both playing and coaching cross country and fastpitch softball competitively and various other sports recreationally.
My favorite ways to stay active are running, biking, hiking, and yoga. I am currently training for my 13th marathon which I will be running in October in Baltimore, Maryland. Having grown up in beautiful Happy Valley, I have a true appreciation for the outdoors. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, walking my dog, and being with family and friends. It might be quite evident by now that I have a true passion for all things wellness and fitness. I try my best to live by the habits and skills I teach in class to my students.
I am looking forward to this school year and teaching students about the importance of leading an active, healthy lifestyle.
