My Role at Mount Nittany Elementary

At MNES, I have the opportunity to do what I love every single day; collaborate with school staff and families in order to provide social-emotional, behavioral, and academic support to all unique and developing learners!

    Fostering Social and Emotional Learning

As part of MNES’s School Wide Positive Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) program, Mrs. Kraytz facilitates one-to-one support, skills-based groups (e.g., mindfulness, self-regulation, anxiety reduction, etc.), lunch bunches, and more! An additional role that she holds within the SWPBIS team is to complete the Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and assist in the creation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Furthermore, she collaborates with our school counselor, Mrs. Tiffany Myers, on school-wide guidance events, such as Bullying Awareness and Prevention Month and Children's Mental Health Awareness Week activities.

    Special Education & Gifted Evaluations

Mrs. Kraytz completes all multidisciplinary team evaluations for students who are referred for special education and/or gifted eligibility and need for services, as well as coordinates the transition process between preschool to kindergarten for children who are receiving early intervention supports and services. She also provides consultation for 504 plans.

    School Team Involvement

Mrs. Kraytz is a member of various school teams, such as the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team, Response to Intervention and Instruction (RtII) data team, and the PBIS Tier 1, 2, and 3 teams. During the 2017-2018 school year, MNES became the first SCASD school to be recognized as earning fidelity of implementation (i.e., "Banner Status") at all three tiers of SWPBIS. She is also part of the Safety Care Team, which is a crisis prevention and intervention program.

    Equity and Inclusivity

Mrs. Kraytz is one of the equity advocates at MNES. The State College Area School District recognizes the importance of equity and thus is engaged in a concerted effort to provide more caring and inclusive experiences for every student. For more information on SCASD's equity and inclusivity efforts, please visit the Equity and Inclusivity Website, which includes a calendar of events, steps for resolving a concern, etc.
