• DISTRICT MEDICATION POLICY

The administration of prescribed and over-the-counter medication to a student during school hours will be permitted when:

    • Failure to take such medicine would jeopardize the health of the student or,
    • The student would not be able to attend school if the medicine were not made available during school hours.

If it necessary to take medication at school, it will be stored in the nurses office in a labeled container, to be given at the time designated by the physician. It is best if medication can be given at home, before or after school. All medication must be in the original container, with the proper label from the pharmacy and within the expiration date. Medication forms are available on the web site or at school and must be signed by both the guardian and doctor before medications can be administered at school.

Students are not allowed to carry medication in backpacks, lunch boxes or keep in desks. The exceptions are inhalers, insulin, epi-pens, and some eyedrops, which responsible students are permitted to carry, after turning the self-administration medication form into the nurse signed by both a guardian and doctor.

****Please Note: A new medication form is needed for every new school year.  It is best if parents bring the medication and permission form to the nurse's office to ensure all requirements have been met.
