    Article I: Name

    1. The official name of this organization shall be and remain the LGBT + Alliance Club of State College Area High School

     

    Article II: Purpose

    1. The State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club will exist to educate students and faculty in the State College Area School district on diversity, including but not limited to: gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, and straight students.
    2. State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club will serve students and faculty in the State College Area School District by providing a means of communication regarding diverse sexual orientations.

     

    Article III: Affiliation

    1. The State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club is affiliated with the State College Area High School.

     

    Article IV: Membership

    1. The State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club must keep at least ten active members at all times.
    2. The club shall not discriminate against any individuals for reasons of race, national origin, color, religion, gender, age, and/or ability status.
    3. Members must not miss more than 4 scheduled meetings during the year to be considered a voting member.
    4. Membership is open to all State College Area High School students.

     

    Article V: Officers

    1. Officer positions will include president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Members will nominate fellow members for these positions during the first official meeting of the school year, and hold an official vote during the Election meeting, as noted in Article VII.
    2. A vacated president position for any reason shall be filled by the vice president. The voting members will then elect a new vice president at the following scheduled meeting. A special voting meeting may be called to order if needed.
    3. A vacated vice president, secretary, or treasurer position for any reason shall be filled at the next scheduled meeting with a member vote.

     

    Article VI: Duties of Officers

    1. The president will preside at all meetings of the State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club meetings.
    2. The vice president will assume all duties of the president in the event of the president’s absence. The vice president will assume all duties delegated by the president.
    3. The secretary will keep minutes of all meetings and correspond with the building secretary. The secretary will perform duties as assigned by the president.
    4. The treasurer will maintain the State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club’s finances and correspond with the building secretary. The treasurer will perform duties as assigned by the president.

     

    Article VII: Elections

    1. Members participating in the first State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club meeting of the year will be nominated for officer positions during the first meeting of the year. Officers of the State College Area High School LGBT + Alliance Club will be elected during an Election meeting, following the first meeting of the year.
    2. Members may hold officer positions for as many years as they are voted for that position.
    3. At least two-thirds of the club members must be present to hold an election meeting.

     

    Article VIII: Advisors

    1. The advisor of the club must be a member of the faculty, administration, or staff of the State College Area School District.
    2. The advisor will supervise all meetings, help organize events, and serve as a liaison between students and the guidance department as needed.

     

    Article IX: Meetings

    1. General meetings shall be planned by the president and held in the classroom of the advisor on the first and third Monday of every month, unless scheduled otherwise. Election and special meetings will be announced to all members prior to the meeting.
    2. All meetings shall run according to the Newly Revised Robert’s Rules of Order.

     

    Article X: Amendments

    1. These bylaws shall be amended by a majority of the membership at any regular or special meeting.
